LSU Football: Top 5 draft prospects for 2021 NFL Draft
2. JaCoby Stevens, DB
JaCoby Stevens had the opportunity to declare for the 2020 NFL Draft, where he likely would’ve heard his name called but instead will return to Baton Rouge for his senior season.
Stevens arrived at LSU as a wide receiver in 2017 but was moved to the safety position prior to the 2018 season, where he made 35 total tackles with 6.5 coming for a loss in just nine games.
In 2019, Stevens was named second-team All-SEC by the league’s coaches in 2019 after starting all 15 games for the Tigers and recording 92 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and five sacks while making three interceptions and defending six passes.
He led the Tigers with seven tackles in their SEC Championship Game victory over Georgia and won the SEC Defensive Player of the Week three-time during the 2019 season after victories over Mississippi State, Auburn and Arkansas.
Stevens can do it all on defense as he lineup near the line of scrimmage or drop back in coverage and do so at an elite level. His versatility will be something scouts love and will likely make him a first round selection as long as no health concerns arise.
