After a relatively quiet 2020 NFL Draft, the 2021 class could yield some top pro prospects for Nebraska football. Which Cornhuskers could be drafted next?

Scott Frost’s tenure in Lincoln has not gotten off to the greatest start, but the good thing about his first two seasons is that he has set himself up for a “the only direction to go is up” in 2020 situation.

After not having a single NFL draft pick a year ago, Nebraska had two players selected in the 2020 NFL Draft which was the most for the Cornhuskers since 2016. Khalil Davis went in the sixth round to the Buccaneers and Carlos Davis went just 38 picks later in round seven to the Steelers.

Moving forward, recruits will want to see more NFL draft success on a consistent basis instead of just four total picks since 2016 and none going higher than the fifth round. Frost has a lot to prove and he might just do that with his 2021 NFL Draft class.

Before the 2019 season, there was plenty of talk about Adrian Martinez taking that next step and becoming the latest Nebraska quarterback to head to the NFL. After a sloppy sophomore year, he’ll be back for likely two more seasons in Lincoln unless he somehow breaks out and enters the Heisman Trophy race by the end of the 2020 campaign.

So if Martinez isn’t going to be a top draft prospect for 2021, which Cornhuskers could be the next to hear their names called?
