5. (13) Georgia 48, (18) Boise State 13

You may be wondering why I decided to put this game as one of the most important, even though Georgia utterly dominated Boise State in this one. Boise State was known as wanting to match up with any team, anywhere, to prove that they belonged at the top. This game showed that they were not quite there yet and that they probably were not going to achieve that status under then head coach Dan Hawkins.

Boise State turned the ball over six times and Georgia quarterback DJ Shockley threw for five touchdowns as the Bulldogs blew the Broncos out in Athens.

This game marked the last time that Boise State would really fail to win in this big of a spotlight, as they would win big game after big game under new coach Chris Petersen.

This game showed that they needed a change at head coach to be the program they they desired and they would get that when Hawkins would take the Colorado head coaching job and Petersen would take over.
