TCU hit the jackpot by adding a five-star running back like Zachary Evans. Last season, the Horned Frogs finished the season with a 5-7 record including a 3-6 Big 12 record. This was the third-ever losing season with Patterson as head coach.

The Horned Frogs started a true freshman in Max Duggan at quarterback. He showed much promise in his first season as a starter for the Horned Frogs.

The Horned Frogs were ranked 56th in points per game (30.3), 30th in rushing yards per game (204), and 62nd in total yards per game (407.7). It’s not just that the Horned Frogs could use as much elite talent as possible for 2020, they do not have much experience left.

The Horned Frogs lost their top two leading rushers from the previous season in running backs Darius Anderson and Sewo Olonilua. Both running backs had at least 134 rushes as they combined for 285 carries for 1,360 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The next experienced back will be senior running back Emari Demercado who rushed for 65 yards on 18 carries last season. Evans’ elite talent and potential will likely put him as the starting running back for the 2020 season. He is an instant game-changer for the Horned Frogs’ offense.

In his junior year of high school in 2018, Evans rushed for nearly 2,000 yards and 29 touchdowns. He also led his North Shore Mustangs to the 6A Texas state title. He was named co-junior player of the year along with dual-threat quarterback Bryce Young, now at Alabama. This kind of talent will immediately put Evans on the field in the starting lineup.
