The 2017 Georgia Bulldogs emerged a new threat to Clemson and Alabama to take home the national championship.

Georgia earned the third seed in the College Football Playoff and one of two SEC bids after a 12-1 season that saw them defeat No. 24 Notre Dame and No. 17 Mississippi State. In the SEC Championship Game, they avenged a regular season loss to Auburn to clinch a playoff spot.

Kirby Smart’s loaded roster included star freshman Jake Fromm at quarterback, Nick Chubb and Sony Michel in the backfield and Butkus Award winner Roquan Smith leading the charge on defense.

The Bulldogs outscored Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl Semifinal 54-48 but fell just short of a title as they fell to Alabama 26-23 in overtime of the national championship.

They will go down as one of Georgia’s best teams in recent history but one that has Bulldog fans thinking what could’ve been.
