The Wildcats and head coach Kevin Sumlin are in trouble. They regressed from year one to year two under Sumlin. The offense and defense both regressed. He got the job late in the cycle three years ago, but the Wildcats have not shown any improvement.

What do you do when you need help? You bring in a transfer who has been part of one of the best programs in your conference. Enter Brenden Schooler coming in as a  grad transfer. Recruited by Oregon as an athlete, Schooler played both wide receiver and safety during his time in Eugene.

Hopefully Schooler can bring some of that Oregon winning culture to an Arizona program that has fallen on hard times recently. They have not had a winning record or gone to a bowl game since 2017.

The Wildcats brought in a less than stellar 2020 recruiting class and 2021 is not off to that good of a start. Schooler might be the best player the Wildcats brought in — at least in the short term. Most of the guys they have are developmental.

Day one, a versatile veteran like Schooler can come in and absorb the playbook. He adds depth to the wide receiver group and possibly even the defensive back group.
