Utah football’s top tight end
Brant Kuithe came to Utah and became the Utes’ best tight end right away. He led all tight ends in receiving as a freshman and sophomore and now he’s facing a junior season that could boost his draft stock tenfold.
The junior tight end is coming off a career season with the Utes in 2019 when he led the team in receiving with 602 yards and six touchdowns on 34 catches. That showed that he can be a field-stretching tight end and not just a guy who catches the ball for a 5-6 yard gain and goes down on first contact. He averaged a whopping 17.7 yards per catch last season.
Kuithe’s breakout was well-documented and earned him second-team All-Pac-12 honors. He enters the 2020 season as arguably the best tight end in the conference and a serious NFL prospect.
What might scare some NFL teams away is his frame at 6-2 and 235 pounds. He’s not your typical big-bodied tight end and even though he has proven himself worthy at the position for the next level, he may have to fight his way onto a roster.
