The state of Mississippi is going to be fun this season. Not only do both the Rebels and the Bulldogs get two of the great offensive minds coaching their programs, but they also get two of the best soundbites coaching their programs as well.

Head coach Mike Leach brings the famed and fabled air-raid offense to Starkville this season. What he needs is a quarterback to run the offense. That is why K.J. Costello is the newcomer to the program with the most potential to have an impact this season.

Anytime you are installing a new system either offensively or defensively it takes time. That is true of the air-raid. Though all of the quarterbacks are learning a new system in Starkville, Costello is the best quarterback in the room.

Costello is the four-star and highly-touted recruit. He’s the veteran who has played college football at the highest level. In addition, he’s had to learn different offenses in his career. They are also bringing in Allan Walters from the portal.

They signed Will Rogers and Garrett Schrader is already on the roster, however, Costello is good enough to come in and absorb that playbook. Leach has done it before with graduate transfers, Costello could be the next one up.
