player. 824. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 3. WR. Junior. Dontay Demus Jr.

Maryland football’s top offensive weapon

Last season, the Terrapins had the 114th-ranked passing offense (174 yards per game). The lack of efficient passing game did not fall on the fault of their impactful wideouts including Dontay Demus Jr. In his sophomore season, Demus led the team in receptions (41), yards (625), and touchdowns (6). He is one of five players last season to start all 12 games for the Terrapins in 2019. He was named as an All-Big Ten honorable mention.

Demus Jr. is a dynamic outside wide receiver who beat opponents with his breakout speed and acceleration. He can also run a vast number of distinctive routes on the outside. What makes him one of the most dangerous offensive players for the Terrapins is his ability to maneuver to avoid tackles. His quick feet and great hip flexibility make him a reliable run after catch receiver.

Demus also possesses great height at 6-3 and size at 200 pounds. This is a good NFL wide receiver caliber size to go along with his playmaking abilities. He lacks overall elite speed off the snap of the ball to be a complete round one or round two draft pick as of now.

The junior wide out will be entering his third season looking to create more potential for a lackluster offense after it burned out two weeks into the season. The arrival of five-star wide receiver Rakim Jarrett will greatly boost the passing offense and will complement Demus on the outside.

If Demus has a dominant and explosive season, he could find his NFL draft climb.
