Week 3: Virginia Tech football at Middle Tennessee (Sept. 19)

Virginia Tech has never been too proud to play Group of Five teams on the road. Central Michigan, Central Florida and even Richmond are among the Group of Five and FCS schools that have welcomed the Hokies to their stadiums.

Middle Tennessee State will look to put a 4-8 season behind it. Quarterback Asher O’Hara carries the load for MTSU offensively, leading the team in both passing and rushing.

The defense will need a complete makeover. This game could give Virginia Tech players a platform to comfortably master their schemes and hone their chemistry with one another.

It will be the only non-conference road game the Hokies play all year. It will not exactly be a hostile environment

Prediction: Virginia Tech 63, MTSU 0 (2-1)

Week 4: Virginia Tech football vs. North Alabama (Sept. 26)

The Hokies close the non-con portion of their 2020 schedule with FCS squad North Alabama. The Lions mustered a 4-7 mark in 2019. They will likely receive a big loss to compliment their big check.

Look for the further ends of the  VT depth chart to get some extensive reps in this one.

Prediction: Virginia Tech 63, North Alabama 0 (3-1)
