Big 12: TCU Horned Frogs

Before you get too upset, ask yourself this: do you really, truly believe that Texas, Oklahoma State or Iowa State can make it to the College Football Playoff?

Texas is what we call a pretender. Similar to teams like Michigan and Notre Dame, the Longhorns have to do less work than most to earn a high ranking and usually get put back into their place by a better team. Yeah, they beat Utah in their bowl game, but I honestly think Rutgers would have put up a fight against the down-in-the-dumps Utes.

And while TCU is in a bit of a slump, I think they’ve got the talent to take on any team in the Big 12. The Horned Frogs had an unimpressive season in 2019, but they put up a fight against top-10 ranked Baylor and Oklahoma in their matchups.

If Gary Patterson can bring more consistency back to Fort Worth, the Horned Frogs can be a contender in the Big 12 in 2020.

Keep in mind as well that these are sleeper teams. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re the next best team to the conference champions.
