Not only is Graham Harrell the best quarterback in Texas Tech history, but he’s among the best ever to play college football.

In four seasons leading the Red Raiders, Harrell threw for a still-standing program-record 15,793 yards and 134 touchdowns while adding 12 touchdowns on the ground.

He led the Red Raiders to bowl games in each of his four seasons under center, including wins in the 2006 Insight Bowl, 2007 Gator Bowl and 2009 Alamo Bowl. His lone bowl loss came in the 2008 Fiesta Bowl to Ole Miss after an 11-2 season.

In 2008, Harrell won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award after throwing for 5,705 yards and 48 touchdowns with a completion rate of 72 percent.

The former Red Raider holds eight NCAA records. Those include: most passes completed per season (512, 2007), most passes completed per game in a single season (39.4, 2007), most passes completed per game in career (31.2), most games gaining 400 yards or more passing in single season (11, 2007), most games gaining 400 yards or more passing in career (20), most yards gained against one opponent (486.3 vs. Texas), most seasons gaining 4,000 yards or more yards of total offense (3) and most career games gaining 400 yards or more (21).
