3. Who will be Clemson football’s WR1?

Earlier this week, the college football world was shocked to hear the news that wide receiver Justyn Ross has a career-threatening spinal condition. With Tee Higgins catching passes from Joe Burrow in the NFL next season, who takes the mantle as Trevor Lawrence’s go-to receiver.

Ironically enough, the receivers left are no slouches; they do not have much experience. They have size, speed, and talent. Unfortunately for this group, there is no spring or summer practice to get acclimated to Trevor Lawrence.

Instantly, all eyes are on Amari Rodgers who is a full year back from knee surgery. He has the most catches of the group. Joseph Ngata — a former four-star recruit — has the second-most receptions of the group. He also has the size Ross brought to the table. Frank Ladson Jr. did see some snaps last season and had some catches in limited action. Four-star Cornell Powell also saw some catches in limited action.

All of these receivers have something in common: they are all four-star recruits. They came to Clemson highly-touted. These young men can play. This season will prove whether or not Clemson has talent depth. With Rodgers out, they are going to have to show what they can do.
