Miami Football: Ranking Hurricanes’ 2020 opponents by toughness
In what I think could be a tricky Friday night game for the Hurricanes, Miami will head to Winston-Salem to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and try to avoid the upset. Wake had a solid season in 2019 and finished 8-5, with three of those losses coming by single-digits.
Dave Clawson has built a consistent winner and physical team and they will be looking to improve upon their last few seasons.
All eyes will be on the quarterback position for the Demon Deacons, as Jamie Newman has taken his talents to Athens to play for the Bulldogs and it can be assumed that junior Sam Hartman will be the full-time guy. Miami will need to have their full attention on this game right before the bye week.
Ever since Pitt shocked Miami in 2017 and at the time ruined the Hurricanes’ perfect season, Miami has won the past two vs the Panthers and will look to continue that winning streak in 2020. The Canes will be coming off of a trip to East Lansing against Michigan State and may not be entirely focused on Pitt and that would be a serious mistake because head coach Pat Narduzzi always has the Panthers ready to go.
Pitt will be hoping senior quarterback Kenny Pickett will be ready to take that next step that Pitt fans have been waiting on ever since he burst on the scene in the upset over the No. 2 Hurricanes. Last year’s leading rusher A.J Davis is also back for his senior year and will be looking to win Pitt’s second ACC Coastal title in the last three seasons.
Pitt always knows how to make games interesting and this should be no exception.
