4. Brock Purdy, Iowa State

Brock Purdy is the Rodney Dangerfield of college football, because for whatever reason, he just don’t get no respect. When it comes to figuring out why, I’m at a loss.

Maybe it just comes down to branding. Iowa State isn’t the brand that Auburn, Clemson, or even North Carolina is.

Even then, In 2019, Purdy threw for 3,952 yards and 17 touchdowns, while adding 249 yards and eight scores on the ground. Those are numbers that, typically, garner a lot more attention.

Purdy doesn’t lack great moments and performances either. Against a resurgent Kansas last season, the Cyclone quarterback threw for 372 yards and four touchdowns, including a game-sealing score on fourth down with 1:16 remaining.

There was also the moment where, with the game against Northern Iowa on the line in overtime, Purdy took off and dove headfirst into a scrum of linemen to keep possession and keep the Cyclones alive.

Purdy is an extremely productive passer who also has an ability to take punishment and keep going, reminiscent of guys like former Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey.

If the roster around him elevates, and Iowa State can raise their profile in 2020, perhaps Purdy will finally get the respect that he deserves.
