I won’t mince words about this selection: Kedon Slovis is the best quarterback in the Pac-12. I feel very confident in this selection as some of the Pac-12’s better quarterbacks moved on like Oregon’s Justin Herbert and Washington’s Jacob Eason.

Slovis was a very unexpected hero for the Trojans last year as this was supposed to be JT Daniels team for the next two seasons. He went down with a knee injury in the first game of the year against Fresno State and Slovis took over for the rest of the season.

Slovis’ best trait is his accuracy. He completed nearly 72 percent of his passes and that is an incredible feat for a true freshman. Slovis gets the ball out quickly and on time which makes him a perfect fit in Graham Harrell’s air-raid system. He had a great year for a true freshman, as he finished with over 3,500 yards passing with 30 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

With an offseason where he is the unquestioned starter, Slovis will get even better in his second season, which should be a scary thought for the country. He could be a darkhorse Heisman candidate, but a large part of that will depend on the Trojans record.

With games against Alabama, Oregon and Notre Dame, Slovis will have plenty of opportunities to be more than the best quarterback in the Pac-12.
