USC Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2020 season
In one of the more interesting annual Pac-12 matchups, USC and Stanford will meet early in September. Stanford will be looking to bounce back from a very surprising 4-8 record in 2019 and get back to contending for Pac-12 championships.
David Shaw is one of the most respected coaches in the nation and he has helped make Stanford one of the best and most consistent programs in the country.
USC has won three of the last four against the Cardinal, including last years matchup, which was the coming out party for Trojan quarterback Kedon Slovis. The Cardinal have one of the best cornerbacks in the nation in Paulson Adebo and their secondary should be a strength and the Cardinal have talented wideouts to be able to have an explosive passing game.
There are too many question marks at running back and in the front-seven for Stanford to be a big threat in the Pac-12 however. USC gets another win in this rivalry.
Final Score: USC 42, Stanford 24 (2-1, 1-0 Pac-12)
In the game that could decide the Pac-12 South, Arizona State and USC will meet to close out what will be a difficult September for the Trojans.
Arizona State has become a trendy pick to win the Pac-12 South and the conference title, mostly because of the potential of sophomore quarterback Jayden Daniels and what should be a solid Sun Devils defense.
Herm Edwards hire was met with much ridicule, as was the decision to run the football program more like an NFL organization. Edwards has exceeded expectations, going 7-6 his first season and then 8-5 last year. 2020 could be the big break through for Edwards and the football program.
The Trojans have split the two games during Edwards first two seasons in Tempe and this game will carry huge implications. The winner will have the lead in the Pac-12 South and will present themselves as the biggest threat to Oregon in the conference. This will be a close game, but Slovis will outplay Daniels and earn a big victory to close out the month of September.
Final Score: USC 35, Arizona State 27 (3-1, 2-0)
