Honorable Mentions

Rutgers vs. Princeton: This game should have happened Week 0 in 2019. What better way to kick off the 150th college football season than with the two teams that started it all?

We’ll likely never see a FBS vs. FCS home-and-home, especially featuring a Power Five school. It would be as special now as it would have last season, but the historical significance would still be there.

Syracuse vs. Buffalo: Syracuse always tries to schedule at least one northeast program on its schedule, so why have the two schools just 146 miles away played four times since 1900?

Syracuse is not far away from a 10-win season and Buffalo is a MAC program on the rise coming off some success of their own. This would make for some good Power Five against Group of Five game with upset potential written all over it.

Tennessee vs. Nebraska: Yes, these two met recently, but it was a bowl game. Neither team has ever stepped into the other’s stadium.

Two former national powers that hope to be on the upswing, a game between the Vols and Huskers would be worth it just for the atmosphere alone. Given how far out scheduling is going, if both programs are heading where they believe they are a hypothetical game scheduled now would likely look much, much different in 10 years.

USC vs. South Carolina: Who’s the real USC?  That answer likely depends on where you live. Let them settle it on the field, although Vegas may have a heavy opinion.

Kansas vs. Rutgers: Come on, you know you’d watch. Two of the absolute worst programs over the last decade, this could make for some “so bad it’s good” television.
