player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Sept. 3. Oregon State Beavers. 1. 832. Stillwater (Okla.)

These two programs met for the first time ever last fall and that resulted in a 52-36 win for the Cowboys. Oregon State has been a struggling football program and have not had a winning season since 2013. They took some steps forward last season under coach Jonathan Smith, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

It will be hard to replicate that success with their two best offensive players now in the NFL, quarterback Jake Luton and wide out Isaiah Hodgins.

This will be an early test for the Oklahoma State defense to show that they have improved since last season. Defensive improvement will be the key to whether this Oklahoma State team can be a playoff contender or just another Big 12 team. Cowboys win big here.

Final Score: Oklahoma State 49, Oregon State 24 (1-0)

These are two teams that are familiar with each other, as this will be their 76th meeting and the Cowboys have dominated the series, winning seven straight. Tulsa used to be a consistent program and was usually at the top of the offensive rankings every season. After winning 10 games in 2016, Tulsa has not won more than four since, placing head coach Philip Montgomery firmly on the hot seat heading into 2020.

Oklahoma State won 40-21 last season and have not lost to the Golden Hurricane since 1998. Look for the Cowboys to roll in this one, as Tulsa’s defense may not get a stop all night.

Final Score: Oklahoma State 63, Tulsa 21 (2-0)
