Oct. 10. Pick Analysis. 5. player. 837. Scouting Report. Stillwater (Okla.). Iowa State Cyclones

After beating one hopeful Big 12 contender the week before, the Cowboys will head home to face Iowa State, who are hoping to challenge for a spot in the conference championship game behind a stingy defense and quarterback Brock Purdy, who is getting some first round buzz in next year’s NFL Draft.

Iowa State is coming off of a 7-6 season, but the only game they lost by more than 10 points was the bowl game loss vs Notre Dame.

Cyclones head coach Matt Campbell has proven himself to be one of the best coaches in the country and has built himself a program with an identity at Iowa State. The Cyclones are a tough, physical team with NFL talent on both sides of the ball. With the game being in Stillwater, I give the edge to the Cowboys and their offense.

Expect a close game, though. It will be clear after these first two conference games if the Cowboys are for real or not.

Final Score: Oklahoma State 38, Iowa State 34 (5-0, 2-0)

821. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Lawrence (Kan.). 6. Oct. 17. Kansas Jayhawks. player

In a series that has been dominated by Oklahoma State, the Cowboys will head to Lawrence to take on the Jayhawks and face the team that has been in the Big 12 cellar for quite some time now. The Cowboys have won 15 of the last 16 against Kansas and that shows no signs of letting up anytime soon.

Kansas will have one of the best running backs in the country in Pooka Williams, who is back for his junior season and he will be the main focus on the Kansas offense.

If the Jayhawks hope to improve on their three wins from last season, they will need to find consistent quarterback play, something they have been lacking since the record-setting Todd Reesing left a little over a decade ago.

Head coach Les Miles will have Kansas improving, but don’t expect a close game here.

Final Score: Oklahoma State 55, Kansas 17 (6-0, 3-0)
