Baylor Bears. 9. player. Scouting Report. Nov. 7. 860. Pick Analysis. Waco (Texas)

In a game against last years Big 12 runner up, the Cowboys will travel to Waco to take on a Baylor team that is retooling a bit this year.

Former Bears coach Matt Rhule did a marvelous job of bringing back Baylor to winning after they were rocked by the recent scandal and that cumulated in an 11-3 season and the school’s first Sugar Bowl birth in 63 years. Rhule is now off to the NFL, joining the Carolina Panthers and former LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda was hired to replace him. He was a fantastic defensive coordinator for the Tigers in his time there, but this will be his first head coaching job so it is still to be determined if he can carry that success over.

Baylor is losing a lot of star power from last season’s team, especially on defense, where only two starters return from the Big 12’s best defense.

One positive for Baylor however is the return of quarterback Charlie Brewer, who is back for his fourth season as a starter and he should only improve under new coordinator Larry Fedora, who is known to be an offensive guru.

Baylor has won two straight against Oklahoma State and five of the last six overall. Baylor should be rounding into form when November rolls around, but they won’t be able to stop the Cowboys’ offense.

Final Score: Oklahoma State 42, Baylor 27  (8-1, 5-1)

Scouting Report. Stillwater (Okla.). player. 877. 10. Pick Analysis. Nov. 14. West Virginia Mountaineers

West Virginia is a team looking to improve upon their 5-7 season in 2019. They return a wealth of experience on both sides of the ball and head coach Neal Brown is known to be an excellent program-builder as a coach.

To improve on last year’s record, the rushing game will need to improve considerably and the defense needs to play better. The Mountaineers made the switch to Jarrett Doege at quarterback late last season and went 2-1, with a win over No. 24 Kansas State.

Oklahoma State has dominated West Virginia ever since the Mountaineers joined the Big 12, posting a 6-2 record and winning the last five.

West Virginia has individual talents like wide receiver Sam James and defensive tackle Darius Stills, but it doesn’t have the depth or talent to challenge the top teams in the Big 12 just yet.

Final Score: Oklahoma State 45, West Virginia 21 (9-1, 6-1)
