It might seem to make more sense that either Mac Jones or Bryce Young — whoever wins the starting job at quarterback — to be the Heisman Trophy contender for the Crimson Tide, however, there will be an adjustment for whoever wins.

Because of that adjustment, Najee Harris is in line for a big season. If the last two games of the 2019 season are any indicator, Harris could see a lot of carries this season. In Najee’s last two games against Auburn and Michigan, he had 51 carries — 20 percent of his total rushes last season.

Jones started both of those games. Harris proved himself to be a capable receiver as well. He had seven games with multiple receptions last season including a 5 catch 87 yard game against South Carolina.

Despite the quarterback usually getting all of the publicity when a team does well, the Tide will lean on Harris. If Jones is the starter, look for them to throw less than they did with Tua. Even if Young starts, Harris still gets a lot of carries to give the five-star phenom time to adjust.

As elite as this receiving corps is, they did lose two first-round draft pics in Henry Rugs and Jerry Jeudy. If Harris gets the touches for a 2,000/500-yard season with 30 touchdowns, he could be the first non-quarterback to win the award since fellow Tide running back Derrick Henry.
