Florida State football: Game-by-game predictions for 2020 season
The Seminoles have only lost twice to the Orange since 1966 and these are a pair of teams that will be looking to bounce back from disappointing seasons in 2019.
Syracuse looked to be a program on the rise under head coach Dino Babers after a 10-win season in 2018, but the Orange fell back to mediocrity with a 5-7 season. Tommy DeVito will be back under center for Syracuse and they will also be returning one of the top defensive backs in the country in Andre Cisco, who led the country in interceptions in 2018.
The Orange should be ready for a bounce back season and they will be a tough out on the road. Florida State will do just enough to pull out a win, but should watch out because they don’t want be caught looking ahead to the big rivalry game against the Gators the following week.
Final Score: Florida State 38, Syracuse 31 (7-4, 5-3 ACC)
In a rivalry that used to have significant national meaning every year, Florida and Florida State will meet in their annual season ending rivalry that has been one sided these past two seasons.
Dan Mullen is 2-0 versus FSU and both games have been decided by at least 23 points. Florida State dominated before Mullen arrived and it has been a long time since both teams were powers in the same season, but Mike Norvell is hoping to change that.
The Gators return a very talented team with an experienced quarterback in Kyle Trask and have dreams of making it to the SEC title game and a run to the College Football Playoff. Anything can happen in these rivalry games and the Seminoles will be ready to play, but the Gators are more proven and have the better quarterback.
Final Score: Florida State 23, Florida 35 (7-5, 5-3 ACC)
