ACC Football: Each team’s top Heisman Trophy candidate for 2020
By Dante Pryor
Just a couple of years ago, the North Carolina Wolfpack could contend for an ACC title. They had one of the most dominant defenses in the country, featuring the likes of defensive end Bradley Chubb and they also had Ryan Finley and Nyheim Hynes.
After back-to-back nine-win seasons, the Wolfpack are trying to find their identity again while living with replacing all of the NFL-caliber players they’ve lost the past two seasons. One of those is the quarterback.
With the uncertainty at quarterback and receiver, expect the Wolfpack to lean on the running game, and that means more carries for last season’s leading rusher Zonovan Knight. If the Wolfpack make a run to the ACC title, it will be on the back of Knight.
Expect for Knight to be the workhorse for the Wolfpack this season. Have good receivers, but they lack a dynamic playmaker at receiver. Knight is the most dangerous offensive player for the ‘Pack, so it only makes sense to get him the ball as much as possible.
Knight will get involved in the passing game and possibly the return game as well. After all, you can’t make plays when you don’t have the ball.
