Utah State football: Will Aggies make bowl without Jordan Love?
How will Utah State football fare in 2020?
These predictions are obviously being made on the assumption of no injuries and nothing COVID-19 related interferes with the season, which seems unlikely at this point.
- Game 1: vs. Washington State (L) — Both of these teams will have new looks too them, as Wazzu is staring over with a new head coach and replacing a lot of talent. Still, the Cougars will be too much for the Aggies.
- Game 2: vs. Southern Utah (W) — The Aggies get their first win over Southern Utah, who will be too overmatched.
- Game 3: at Washington (L) — The Aggies will face another Pac-12 opponent with a new head coach, but the Huskies are very talented and may blow them out.
- Game 4: at BYU (L) — BYU is a solid team and play well at home. Another early season loss for Utah State.
- Game 5: vs. San Diego State (L) — The Aztecs are bringing back Brady Hoke as head coach and will have one of the best defenses in the Mountain West, even with Rocky Long no longer there.
- Game 6: at Boise State (L) — Another loss for Utah State against the Mountain West favorite Broncos.
- Game 7: vs. New Mexico (W) — Aggies get their first conference win against the Lobos, who have one of the worst defenses in the country.
- Game 8: at Nevada (W) — The Wolf Pack are supposed to contend in the MWC this season, but the Aggies pull the upset on the road.
- Game 9: at Wyoming (L) — The Cowboys will be contenders in the MWC and play very well at home under Craig Bohl.
- Game 10: vs. Fresno State (W) — I consider this game a toss-up, but I will give the Aggies the nod at home.
- Game 11: at Colorado State (L) — The Rams will have one of the conferences top offenses under new coach Steve Addazio and be a tough team to beat.
- Game 12: vs. Air Force (L) — Air Force will have an elite rushing attack and that will be a problem for the Aggies’ defense.
Final Record: 4-8, 3-5 MWC
The early schedule is a beast and that could really put a hamper on the Aggies season. There are so many new starters on the offense, especially at the skill positions. The defense should see some improvement, but how much is the key.
I think this will be another rebuilding year for the program, but they could be in for a much better 2021.
