4. D’Eriq King, Miami

Looking at the recent history of Miami’s offense, there’s almost no reason to believe that they’ll have good quarterback production this year. That being said, they hadn’t had a top quarterback prospect in Miami for quite some time. Technically, Tate Martell was the second-best dual threat quarterback in the country in high school, but Miami has given no indication that he’ll be getting significant time next year.

That’s why they turned to one of the biggest name transfers that was on the market: D’Eriq King. After announcing his transfer from Houston, King was a top priority for a lot of schools.

As a Michigan State fan, his name even came up as a potential target in East Lansing, but obviously that dissolved pretty quickly. King is another dual threat guy, extremely capable of getting creative when the pocket collapses, one of a few reasons why he has rushed for over 1,400 yards so far at the college level. Last year, he broke Tim Tebow‘s record for most consecutive games with a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown.

Teams will have to plan for both of these scenarios when they play Miami. Whether or not the offense finally gets going for the Hurricanes, King will give a boost to a rushing unit that struggled last year, finishing 120th in rushing yards per game. Watch out for this offensive unit, as King could possibly have an RG3-type effect on this historically great program.
