Brandon Smith is a former five-star recruit, the No. 1 inside linebacker and 18th ranked overall recruit in the 2018 class, according to 247Sports. He didn’t put up much in the stat-book last year as a rotation guy, recording only 13 total tackles. The talent and the potential is for sure there with Smith, though.

During an interview before the Cotton Bowl, Micah Parsons said of Smith, “Brandon has the most athletic ability in the room. He has the outright most potential. He has a chance to do great things while I’m here and after I’m gone. His opportunity here is a great one.”

Parsons went on to say, “And he doesn’t even realize some of the things that he does yet. Once he gets all his body control, I think he’s going to be one of those guys who’s like, wow.”

Micah coming out and saying Smith has more athletic ability is downright scary. Parsons is already looked at as a likely top-10 draft pick.

If Smith comes out and does what Parsons believes he can this season, this Lions linebacking group is going to be a scary one.
