Texas football: Game-by-game predictions for 2020 season
Once thought to be just another team in the Big 12, Iowa State is a formidable challenger for the conference title game under head coach Matt Campbell and the Cyclones have a lot of talent, especially on the offensive side of the ball with quarterback Brock Purdy set to be back for another season in Ames.
Iowa State did not quite meet expectations last season, but only lost one game by double digits and that shows if they can win the close ones, the Cyclones will have a chance to compete in the Big 12.
I consider this game to be a serious toss-up. Both teams have excellent quarterbacks and can light up the scoreboard and the Cyclones will be physical on defense, I think that the game being in Austin will be the deciding factor and Sam Ehlinger just slightly outplays Purdy.
Final Score: Texas 24, Iowa State 21 (10-1, 7-1)
This game will have huge implications, not only in the Big 12 title race, but for a potential playoff spot as well. Both teams will enter this game with a loss to Oklahoma and will be playing for a spot to have a rematch with the Sooners in the Big 12 title game.
The Cowboys are bring back Heisman candidate in running back Chuba Hubbard and have offensive superstars like wide receiver Tylan Wallace and quarterback Spencer Sanders.
The Cowboys are in for a special season. They return a wealth of talent and experience on both sides of the ball and will be hard to stop when they are on offense. if the defense makes the proper leap, the Cowboys could be contenders nationally.
The Cowboys upend the Longhorns and keep them from reaching the Big 12 title game.
Final Score: Texas 34, Oklahoma State 38 (10-2, 7-2)
