2. Offensive skill position weapons

Tyler Shough is a relatively unknown commodity at this point. His play could determine if the Ducks are real national title contenders. He’ll have plenty of weapons around him on offense, though.

Seniors Johnny Johnson III and Jaylon Redd are quick slot guys that combined for 107 catches for 1,301 yards and 14 touchdowns last year. Devon Williams and Bryan Addison will be Shough’s tallest targets as both are 6-foot-5 and have the ability to win plenty of jump balls.

The team’s top three rushers are all back in CJ Verdell, Travis Dye and Cyrus-Habibi-Likio. The three combined for 2,215 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns last season. Verdell will be the workhorse back amongst the three after leading the team in carries by 91 and rushing for 1,220 yards and eight touchdowns.

Shough will have plenty of guys he can get the ball to who can make big plays. The run game should be good again and may be leaned on more heavily at times if Shough struggles early.

Regardless of how Shough plays, his skill position guys will be able enhance him and the offense overall.
