With the Air-Raid done in Pullman, the run game might get a bit more love at Washington State. Considering new head coach Nick Rolovich needs to figure out the quarterback position, he just might lean on all-purpose running back Max Borghi a bit more than the run-and-shoot offense would usually run the football.

Even if they don’t run it 20 times per game, Borghi looks to get more touches because Rolovich will run the ball more. He might not be Christian McCaffery, but he is a capable receiver out of the backfield.

Another reason the Cougars will lean on Borghi offensively is their two leading wide receivers from last year are gone. He returns as both the Cougars’ leading rusher and receiver. Expect Rolovich to take full advantage of the junior’s versatility as well.

Borghi is comfortable lining up anywhere on the field. He can line up next to the quarterback, motion wide as a receiver, or even line in the slot. There is a myriad of ways to get him the ball.

If the Cougars finally win an Apple Cup and a conference title, expect Borghi to find himself on a watch list or two.
