Arizona State and Jayden Daniels have everything to make a serious run in the Pac-12. Daniels showed calm under pressure coupled with tangible and intangible tools as a true freshman last season. The scariest part of their opponents is most of the team returns as they were one of the youngest teams in the country last season.

The question for Daniels and the Sun Devils, “Will Herm Edwards put his foot on the gas offensively?”

The knock on Edwards as a coach has always been how conservative he can be at times. Most college football geeks have Arizona State and USC 1-2 as the best teams in the conference coming into the season.

In order to warrant Heisman consideration, you have to be the best player on the best team. Arizona State is going to win a lot of games this season. The question is, will Daniels have the opportunity to put up numbers.

West Coast bias is an issue when it comes to the Heisman Trophy — just ask Christian McCaffery.

If Daniels — or any Pac-12 player for that matter — wants to punch their ticket to New York City, they need numbers to go alongside wins.

Daniels will get the wins. Will he have the numbers?
