This one should come as no surprise. Since taking over the starting role in 2018, Trevor Lawrence has been one of the few truly elite quarterbacks in the country.

Lawrence has been named to an All-ACC team in both of his first two seasons at Clemson, despite not starting for the entirety of his freshman season. Taking this into account, it’s almost a guarantee that he will be found somewhere on the All-ACC team in 2020.

The numbers that Lawrence has put up in such a short amount of time are mind-blowing. He stepped right into the role and took off, leading the Tigers to win the national championship in just his freshman year. During that freshman campaign, he threw for 3,280 yards and 30 touchdowns. It’s even more impressive when you take into account that he only threw eight interceptions along the way.

Lawrence’s numbers continued to improve in his sophomore season, throwing for 3,665 yards and 36 touchdowns. However, he did double his interception total from 2018, which can be taken in a number of ways.

One obvious challenge for Lawrence this year will be the loss of multiple receivers. As previously mentioned, Tee Higgins was taken in the NFL Draft. To add onto this, Justyn Ross will not be available in 2020 due to a spinal complication. Young receivers will have to step up and take charge in order to keep Clemson’s passing game one of the most lethal in all of college football.

This will almost certainly be Lawrence’s last go-around in the orange and purple, as he will be the first player taken in the 2021 NFL Draft. You better believe that he will make the most of it, no matter what challenges lie ahead. Given the loss of key assets at receiver, it wouldn’t be shocking to see a slight dip in his numbers. However, he will still be head-and-shoulders above the rest, ensuring his placement as an All-ACC selection this season.
