Kentucky Football: 3 players with most to prove in 2020
1. Terry Wilson Jr.
The clear-cut favorite for the “most to prove this season award” couldn’t have gone to anyone else other than Mr. Terry Wilson Jr.
The former Oregon quarterback and JUCO transfer came into Lexington day one and commanded the team to an all-time historic season that featured ending a 33-year losing streak to Florida, a bowl win against No. 12 Penn State and finishing with a 10-win season for only the third time in school history.
Wilson was all but ready to build off the historic season where he showed many flashes of brilliance behind center. However, his junior season was tragically cut short due to a knee injury he suffered in the second game of the year against Eastern Michigan.
Wilson has a lot to prove to himself, Big Blue Nation and NFL scouts that he can come back from his knee injury and still be that explosive athlete that he was prior to it.
In his first full season with the ‘Cats, Wilson was a dual-threat option who at times could be really good in the passing game and other times looked confused. He will need to improve on his touchdown-to-interception ratio, throwing 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions in his junior year. Wilson will also need to improve his accuracy.
On top of regaining his confidence on the field and off it, Wilson will be having a child in two weeks and recently cut of his trademark dreadlocks after feeling he’d outgrown them which can be interpreted as Wilson starting anew after finally being able to practice after his injury.
This season is a big one for Wilson on and off the field. I’m most certainly Big Blue Nation is looking forward to seeing his performance this season.
