Syracuse brings back a good chunk of players from an offense that started off slow but finished strong in 2019. Tommy DeVito will be returning and while he didn’t light up the ACC, he did not make many mistakes — just five interceptions with none of them coming after Week 5.

Abdul Adams will be a new starter taking over for Moe Neal who was a reliable four-year contributor for the Orange since 2016. Adams is a transfer from Oklahoma, and will get his first true chance to shine as an every-down back.

Adams was very good in 2017 with Oklahoma, rushing for 542 yards on just 59 attempts with an average of 9.2 yards per carry. If the Orange can rely on Adams to keep the chains moving, they will have a steady offense that limits mistakes.

The Orange will return four starting linemen from 2019. This unit features Matthew Bergeron who broke out as a true freshman making the Pro Football Focus All-Freshman second team.

Syracuse’s offense will not be dynamic enough to keep up with Clemson or North Carolina, but they can be a steady, mistake free unit that eats up time of possession. That may be a style that works against the middling teams of the ACC.
