1. Can Ian Book take the Irish all the way?

The definition of ‘all the way’ could very well change as the season progresses, but for now we’ll define it as the best team in college football (at least out of those that play). While the NCAA just announced that there will be no championships this fall, there’s always room for speculation. The Irish have most of the pieces needed to get to the promised land, but they’ve struggled to produce in big games during the Brian Kelly era.

Some of that can be attributed to subpar quarterback play against top 10 opponents, but there are often multiple avenues of blame in such contests. Notre Dame’s biggest 2020 test will undoubtedly come in the form of Clemson, but the Irish still have an assortment of other games that will help gauge their progress in the new season.

While ‘all the way’ is as relative as it’s ever been, the Irish would love to put their woes vs. top 10 opponents behind them with a win over Clemson. Even though it appears as if Book won’t get the chance to take the Irish to another College Football Playoff, an undefeated season would go a long way for both Book and Notre Dame’s program moving forward.
