Auburn football: Updated game-by-game predictions for 2020 season
This game will be the important for Auburn’s season, especially the last half because that is when the schedule gets very tough. Auburn still has games vs LSU, Alabama and Texas A&M that is coming for the Tigers and they will just have to make against they avoid injuries against what might be the SEC’s worst team this season.
The Tigers have won four straight and six of the last seven against the Razorbacks and they will be heavy favorites heading into this game.
Arkansas will be under new leadership, with former Georgia offensive line coach and former Razorbacks assistant Sam Pittman will have his hands full in 2020. Arkansas will turn to former Florida quarterback Felipe Franks and former Florida State offensive coordinator Kendal Briles to try and bring a spark to this team.
Make it five straight for the Tigers.
Final Score: Auburn 49, Arkansas 17 (2-1)
One of Auburn’s two new opponents for the season, South Carolina is a bit of a hard team to peg going into 2020. They return quarterback Ryan Hilinski and he will be working with new offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, who was previously the head coach at Colorado State and before that, the offensive coordinator at UGA.
The defense should be solid once again, but that has not been the problem so far in Will Muschamp’s tenure. The offense has struggled to find a rhythm and that can be attributed to not being able to settle on a quarterback. Hilinski is the undisputed starter and showed flashes last season.
I simply think Auburn is too talented for the Gamecocks. South Carolina lacks playmakers to be able to stretch the field on Auburn and I don’t think the front seven will hold up well against the Auburn running game. South Carolina showed last year versus Georgia that they are capable of pulling off of a big upset. Auburn wins a closer than expected game.
Final Score: Auburn 28, South Carolina 17 (3-1)
