Why Greg Schiano can revive Rutgers

Almost a decade has passed and Rutgers finds itself in an eerily familiar position. The team is laughed at by most of the Big Ten and is considered at automatic win on the schedule of most teams. And to be honest, I don’t think that’ll change for at least a few years.

It took Greg Schiano five years last time, a time frame that upper management of this team didn’t have the patience for with Chris Ash and Kyle Flood. If they want to win some games, Rutgers Football have to wait.

The logic behind five years is simple: Schiano knows who he wants to recruit and how to utilize them. As soon as he had his full squad of players behind him, Rutgers was actually a scary team. I know, seems far fetched, but it’s true.

I don’t believe they’ll ever actually be a threat to win the Big Ten, but don’t sleep on this team. They’re at a place where a lot of coaches thrive: they’ve got absolutely nothing to lose. It may not be next year, or the year after that, or the year after that. But I promise you, Rutgers will be back.
