Alan Bowman back to lead high-powered offense

Per usual the offense was putting up big time numbers in the Big 12. They ranked first in the conference in passing yards per game (324.7). Converting those yards to points was a bit of an issue. The Red Raiders ranked sixth in the Big 12 in scoring offense putting up 30.5 points a game.

All of this while losing starting quarterback Alan Bowman to a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 3.

The offensive line is a question mark to start the season. Texas Tech will lose two of their leaders from the offensive line in Terence Steele and Bailey Smith. Both were veteran players who were captains and occupied the tackle positions. It will be interesting to see who steps up and fills the void, both on and off the field.

One man who will help is Jack Anderson who returns from a season-ending upper body injury. He was an All-American as a freshman and named to the All-Big 12 second team in 2018.

In terms of playmakers, Texas Tech certainly isn’t lacking there. SaRodorick Thompson returns after putting up 12 rushing touchdowns last year to go alongside 765 yards. Nobody stands out in the receiving corps, but all three starters put out solid 2019 campaigns.

Erik Ezukanma led the way with 664 receiving yards, while T.J. Vasher led the team in receiving touchdowns. Both men are poised to take a step up in 2020 with Bowman back in the forefront.
