The Bears go on the road for the first time here. The Mountaineers are still thin as their roster turns over in year two under head coach Neal Brown. Their offensive line was one of the worst in the country last season; they struggled to protect the quarterback and running the football.
It will be interesting to see how much the offensive line has improved. Baylor’s pass rush, which should be adequate under Dave Aranda, should test this. West Virginia’s defense was not bad last season. Last season was a close 17-14 Baylor victory. This season should not be much different. The Mountaineers keep it close, but the Bears eke one out.
Final Score: Baylor 20, West Virginia 13 (3-0, 2-0)
This game is the first test of the season for the Bears. The Oklahoma State Cowboys travel to Waco looking to avenge last season’s home loss to the Bears 45-27. The Pokes come into this game with a healthy Tylan Wallace and Spencer Sanders. All-American running back Chuba Hubbard is also back.
The home contest is Baylor’s first 50/50 game of the season.
Despite the offensive might the Cowboys bring to the table, there are questions on the defense. Many people have jumped on the Cowboys’ bandwagon and feel they are a contender in the Big 12. Mike Gundy and the Cowboys always have their one stinker every season. Not here, though, as the Pokes win a close game.
Final Score: Baylor 31, Oklahoma State 38 (3-1, 2-1)
