2. Receiving corps becoming playmakers

Texas A&M struggled producing big plays in the passing game in 2019. In fact, only 10 times did the Aggies produce a 30-plus yard reception. Having receivers that can turn small gains into big plays and make guys miss downfield will obviously really help Kellen Mond.

There’s a decent amount of turnover at the position but plenty of talent to come in and produce. The Aggies lost Quartney Davis and Kendrick Rogers who combined for 84 catches, 967 yards and six touchdowns. Leading receiver Jhamon Ausbon is back after a 66-reception, 872-yard, five-touchdown season as a junior. Senior Camron Buckley will likely get a starting role after being a solid backup guy for the past few seasons.

Five-star freshmen Demond Demas will have an opportunity to compete right away for a starting spot and could become an immediate playmaker.

Baylor Cupp was the No. 1 ranked tight end in the 2019 recruiting class, according to 247Sports, but missed last season with a broken leg. He’ll be back this year and paired with Jalen Wydermyer who led the team in receiving touchdowns last year with six. That tight end duo looks like it could be one of the top in the conference.

This group will be going up against some of the best secondaries in the country and will need to win their battles if the Aggies want to compete for top spot in the SEC.

Isaiah Spiller is a stud at running back and even with some shifting going around on the offensive line, the A&M run game should be solid.

Some of what it’ll take for Kellen Mond to take the next step will be due to how his receivers play, and having real difference makers he can get the ball to will be key in 2020.
