Miami Football: Can Hurricanes get back to ACC title game in 2020?
How will Miami football fare in 2020?
- Game 1: vs. UAB (W) — The Hurricanes start off the season with a win, but UAB keeps in interesting throughout most of the game.
- Game 2: at Louisville (W) — The Cardinals could be one of the more surprising teams in 2020, but D’Eriq King is too much to contain as the Hurricanes pick up a crucial win.
- Game 3: vs. Florida State (W) — In the past decade, these two programs have been up-and-down and are both looking to reestablish themselves. Miami takes control early and holds on for the win.
- Game 4: at Clemson (L) — The Tigers hand the Hurricanes their first loss of the season, but Miami keeps in within one possession thanks to King.
- Game 5: vs. Pitt (W) — Miami bounces back with a huge win over Pitt, who could have of the best defenses in the ACC in 2020.
- Game 6: vs. Virginia (W) — The Cavaliers were one of the most surprising teams in 2019, but last season will look like a fluke as Miami rolls in this one.
- Game 7: at NC State (W) — Injuries gave the Wolfpack their first losing season last year since 2013. They should bounce back this season but are not enough to be beat Miami.
- Game 8: at Virginia Tech (W) — The Hokies also lost their best defensive player due to the pandemic. This game will be close, maybe an overtime thriller but Miami prevails on the road.
- Game 9: vs. Georgia Tech (W) — The Yellow Jackets will be at the bottom of the ACC and Miami avoids a late-season slip-up.
- Game 10: at Wake Forest (W) — Wake Forest have been on the climb the past three or four seasons, but take a small step back in 2020. Miami closes out their road schedule with a win.
- Game 11: vs. North Carolina (L) — If Miami wins, they have a high probability of taking on Clemson in a rematch that would decide the winner of the ACC. Unfortunately, Miami’s season comes to an end with a heartbreaking loss to the Tar Heels.
Prediction: 9-2 (8-2), 3rd in ACC
The transfer of quarterback D’Eriq King is without a question one of the biggest acquisitions in all of college football this offseason.
The Hurricanes offense should see a marginal improvement but the Miami defense could see some struggles throughout the season. Despite those struggles, the offensive fire power should be enough to carry Miami throughout the season and keep them in ACC title game talks until the final weeks.
Can the Hurricanes turn things around or will they find themselves in the middle of the pack once again?
