How will Auburn football fare in 2020?

  • Game 1: vs. Kentucky (W) — The Wildcats have been pretty competitive in the SEC the past two seasons but 2020 could have them hovering around .500. Tigers win big in their season opener.
  • Game 2: at Georgia (L) — Georgia gets the edge in this one with it them being the home team but a win here for the Tigers could build their confidence up enough to run the table in the regular season.
  • Game 3: vs. Arkansas (W) — The Razorbacks are terrible. Tigers bounce back with blowout win.
  • Game 4: at South Carolina (W) — You never know what you’re going to get from the Gamecocks until the season starts. Auburn wins this one by two scores.
  • Game 5: at Ole Miss (W) — Back-to-back road games, and LSU the following week, could be a trap game for the Tigers. But Nix takes over and gets the W for Auburn.
  • Game 6: vs. LSU (W) — LSU could be bad this year and will have many thinking one hit wonders but so many players have opted out, that the blame for LSU’s season falls solely on the pandemic. Anyways, Auburn wins big.
  • Game 7: at Mississippi State (W) — Auburn is fresh off a bye week and takes home the win. Leach still delivers some great post-game quotes.
  • Game 8: vs Tennessee (W) — The Vols seem to be on the rise but the hype seems to be a little high and about a year away. Tigers win in overtime.
  • Game 9: at Alabama (L) — This is basically a coin flip. I personally believe either of these teams could go undefeated but I also think they could both drop three games in 2020. Home-field advantage kicks Auburn out of SEC title contention.
  • Game 10: vs. Texas A&M (L) — The Aggies are a dark-horse in 2020, seriously. If they can get by Alabama, I don’t see anything stopping them from making the SEC title game or the playoff. An instant classic to end the season but the Tigers head into 2021 on a two game losing streak.

Prediction: 7-3

The Auburn Tigers are going to be really good this season, but with over half of their starters from 2019 gone, there will be some bumps and bruises as some familiar and some new faces step into newer and bigger roles. But as mentioned before, if the Tigers can iron out the details early and pick up an early season win over Georgia, they could find themselves in not only the SEC title game but also the College Football Playoff.

So can Bo Nix and the Auburn Tigers shocked the conference or will their inexperience be too much to over come in 2020?
