2. Dazz Newsome, Wide Receiver

Dazz Newsome is off a 72-reception, 1,018-yard, 10-touchdown season as a junior that landed him on the All-ACC second team. He thrived playing with Sam Howell under Phil Longo’s air-raid scheme. He more than doubled his yards output, added 28 catches, and eight touchdowns from 2018 to 2019.

This year, Dazz was named to the preseason Biletnikoff watchlist.

Like Howell, Newsome put up monster numbers in the second half of the season once the Heel offense got rolling. After failing to go for 100 yards in the first six games, Dazz topped 100 in four of the last five regular season games.

In the bowl game, he caught eight balls for 71 yards and two touchdowns. The only thing that could hold back Dazz from putting up another monster season is how talented the receiving corps he’s playing with is. Dyami Brown also put up big numbers last year and big Beau Corrales will get his share of targets. But given how much the Heels are looking to throw the ball, Dazz will get his fair share of action.

Out of high school, 247Sports had him as just a three star recruit, safe to say Dazz has outperformed expectations and is looking now to take one more leap before hopefully making it to the NFL.
