Navy simply couldn’t match the physicality and athleticism of BYU

Very quickly, it became very evident that Navy was not physical enough to compete in this football game on both sides of the ball. The lack of size on the offensive line was problematic for the Midshipmen who were dwarfed by the BYU defensive front. The defensive line couldn’t get any push on the BYU offensive front.

It was bad. It was extremely noticeable all night at just how much bigger BYU was across every single position group.

The skill positions couldn’t get things working well at all. The athleticism was lacking, too — BYU was much more athletic at all of the skill position groups and the secondary.

Navy’s lack of contact in practice over the last several months might have something to do with this, but I think it’s more about the lack of size that Navy has in every group. They’re an undersized group this season.
