1. D’Eriq King shined

This was one of the most anticipated debuts for a player in college football this season and while it was not perfect by any means, D’Eriq King showed why he could be a big-time player for the Canes this season.

The Houston transfer finished with 144 yards passing and 83 yards rushing and often showed an ability to evade defenders in the pocket and make plays with his feet and that is something that Hurricane fans everywhere have been clamoring for from this position. King showed great leadership and poise and is only going to get better as the season goes on.

It was not a perfect night however, as King struggled with his placement on deep throws downfield and missed an open thrown in the endzone on an RPO. King will have to work on getting his timing down with these receivers and that will help on the deep balls.

Overall, King will be a difference maker for the Canes this fall and he showed all of the reasons why in his debut victory over UAB.
