College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25, Week 3
By Zach Bigalke
Miami opened its 2020 ledger on Thursday night with a solid 17-point victory over defending C-USA West champion UAB. The Blazers just couldn’t hang with the Hurricanes for four full quarters, as they went into the locker room at halftime down only seven but were forced to watch as their hosts pulled away in the second half of the 31-14 runaway at Hard Rock Stadium.
Former Houston quarterback D’Eriq King was solid in his first start as a Hurricane, keeping alive his streak of games with at least one rushing touchdown and one passing score. King finished 16-of-24 for 144 yards and a passing touchdown and added a dozen carries for 83 yards and a rushing score. Cam’Ron Harris was the big revelation in the backfield, carrying the ball 17 times for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
The Hurricanes hit the road next week for their first ACC test against Louisville. They should be ranked somewhere in the mid-teens in what will likely be a duel of AP Top 25 programs. A win over the Cardinals would really set up Miami as a potential dark-horse in the conference in a year where divisions are not a factor.
