1. Kansas embarrassed at home by Coastal Carolina

The Kansas Jayhawks were a safe pick for a team that would improve this season. Last year, the Jayhawks accounted for a 3-9 record in the first season with Les Miles as head coach. One loss from last season stands out the most, which is the 12-7 home loss to Coastal Carolina. The Jayhawks were set to play the Chanticleers again in Lawrence to start the 2020 season.

The Jayhawks continued to fall towards irrelevance as they were embarrassed at home once again to the Chanticleers 38-23. From start to finish, Coastal Carolina took control of the game and they didn’t look back, beating a Jayhawks team that had to replace nine starters on the defensive side of the ball. The Chanticleers scored 14 points in the first and second quarter as they took a 28-3 lead into halftime.

The Jayhawks out-gained the Chanticleers in total yards 367-318 as well as first downs 23-19. Kansas turned the ball over four times while the Chanticleers were not had any turnovers. Coastal Carolina’s defense tormented the Jayhawks by crashing into the backfield often. Coastal Carolina accounted for 12 tackles loss, three sacks, two interceptions and a fumble.

Coastal Carolina continues to grow as a program while the Jayhawks look to rebound for the 2020 season in some fashion. They are unlikely to win any other game this season in this tough conference.
