Winner: Oklahoma (No. 3)

Everyone expected Oklahoma to annihilate Missouri State and they did. The Sooners are winners because of Ohio State not being included in the poll because of the Big Ten’s absence in this season so far.

If Oklahoma did not look as impressive as they did, I could have seen either Georgia or Florida leaping up to take that third spot behind Clemson and Alabama. Oklahoma looks like they might be able to keep a hold on that third spot for the  foreseeable future, as it looks like anyone outside of Texas or Oklahoma State is not going to have much luck in beating Oklahoma in the Big 12 this season.

It will be interesting to see if Oklahoma’s past failures will hinder them in anyway in future polls but for this week, they are a clear winner.

Winner: The SEC

The SEC is rightly regarded as the top conference in college football and in a season with two of the Power Five conferences not playing, it was to be expected that the SEC might dominate in the polls. The conference holds six spots in the top 10 with Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Auburn and Texas A&M making up 60 percent and then Tennessee comes in at 15, with Kentucky being the other team in the conference to be ranked and they come in at No. 23.

No conference loves to tout their poll numbers as much as the SEC and this week, they will be able to pound their chest as usual and earn bragging rights before their conference even kicks off.
