ACC football power rankings, Week 3: Clemson looks dominant yet again
By Dante Pryor
8. Virginia Tech Hokies (0-0)
Irony can be quite a funny thing. For example, it is ironic Justin Fuente had so much to say about the transfer portal losing Damon Hazelton, Josh Jackson and others to the portal. Fuente proceeded to flirt with Baylor after flirting with Kansas State, then fills out his roster with transfers.

That’s why you have to be careful with what you say.
Fuente has his quarterback in Hendon Hooker. The question here is do they have enough players around him to score some points. Kansas transfer Khalil Herbert comes in to bolster the run game, and Rutgers transfer Raheem Blackshear adds depth and versatility to the offense. The Hokies return a veteran defense that is aided by — ironically enough — transfers.
JUCO transfer DaShawn Crawford helps plug the middle of the defense. Florida transfer Justus Reed adds depth to the pass rush. It’s a good thing that Fuente changed his stance on the transfer portal. If not, the Hokies would have some gaping holes.
Tech opens its season Sept. 26 against North Carolina State.
