Rumors surrounding the Mountain West

The Mountain West has received a push from conference heavy-weight Boise State to start the season with a statement from head coach Bryan Harsin:

"“The Big Ten’s announcement that they’ve identified a safe path to playing football this Fall is very encouraging. Our players and coaches want to play. We appreciate our conference statement regarding the ongoing efforts being made to explore all options safely returning to the field as soon as possible. We look forward to getting back on The Blue.”"

Brett McMurphy reported that the Mountain West was “aggressively exploring” options to play the season on Wednesday night, saying that the schools are looking at playing an eight-game schedule with a title game on Dec. 19.

The conference is exploring ways to get on the field, but ultimately, I do believe that they will wait to see what the verdict is on the Pac-12 before they make any decisions.

The biggest question mark surrounding the conference is if Fresno State, Air Force or Hawaii will be allowed to play in the conference. Hawaii’s local authorities haven’t allowed high school sports to continue, and the Air Force Academy may not be permitted to play by military officials.

Regardless, a season looks imminent for the Mountain West.
